MENU OF SERVICES

Tune-Ups:

  • Check hard drive reliability.
  • Check space left on the hard drive.
  • Check amount of memory installed in system.
  • Determine processor type.
  • Check for malware or incompatible programs/drivers.
  • Determine price to upgrade vs. replace system
  • Check operating system for errors; repair them if needed.
  • Perform a defrag on the hard drive.
  • Update commonly used programs.
  • Check for antivirus expiration and determine if it is functioning properly.
  • Check bios settings and CPU temperature to make sure there are no heating issues.
  • Test DVD drives and also make sure things are performing properly before any other tuning up is done.

Make Like New (without data back-up):

  • Test the hard drive to make sure it is reliable.
  • Format the hard drive FULLY (unless there’s a recovery partition available).
  • Reinstall windows, all drivers, any programs provided by the customer, and Windows updates.
  • Install any Antivirus the customer provides (or install a free Antivirus of the customer’s choosing).
  • Assure everything is running optimal.

Make Like New (with data back-up):

  • Test the hard drive to make sure it is running reliably.
  • Backup ALL data to our backup drives (All viruses are removed prior to backup and checked again upon putting data back onto system).
  • Format the hard drive FULLY (unless there’s a recovery partition available).
  • Reinstall windows, all drivers, any programs provided by the customer and Windows updates.
  • Restore all data back to its original locations (typically documents, favorites, pictures, music, and desktop items unless customers specify what they use). As a precaution, all the rest of the data is saved to the customer’s PC in the event something was not restored, then it can always be found when needed.
  • Install any Antivirus the customer provides us (or install a free Antivirus of the customer’s choosing).
  • System will be made as close to original as possible, minus programs (which have to be reinstalled from discs) even down to the wallpaper, when possible.
  • Make sure everything is running at peak performance.

Virus Removal:

  • Most virus removals are done manually (we physically search for and remove files and programs causing the infections. After that we run the system through a battery of tests. It is then benchmarked, and checked through our network to make sure no unwanted data is being sent OR received by the computer. We then browse various sites making sure only the data that is supposed to be sent…is sent.
  • MOST of the time, we can do a virus removal without the need to reinstall windows and backup data; however there are occasions where the viruses damage Windows components and require the Make Like New to run properly.

Data Transfers:

  • One hour typically allows us to transfer/backup 50 GB of data; anything above that would be an additional hour’s charge.

Data Recovery:

  • NOT to be confused with DATA TRANSFER. This service is needed if the hard drive has failed…you will know if a data recovery is needed.
  • If data recovery attempt is successful, we start backing it up, and apply the data recovery attempt fee towards the time needed to recover the data. We charge for the recovery attempt because it typically takes a little over 24 physical hours to completely scan the hard drive, whether it’s recoverable or not

Diagnostics

  • Service varies depending upon what the symptoms are, therefore the following is a basic “system not booting scenario”:
  • Attempt to run the system.
  • Attempt safe mode.
  • If need be, troubleshoot via process of elimination by removing/replacing various components until system is stable.
  • Run a series of tests using various utilities that the actual manufacturers use to test parts before they pack them up to sell.
